WE

HIGH COST OF PRIVATE TUTORING.
THE
INFORMATION BELOW EXPLAINS THE MANY REASONS WHY
"WE’RE
NOT THE BIGGEST, WE’RE JUST THE BEST!"
Unsurpassed Uniformity and Quality
A bar
review course is only as good as the instructors who teach
it. But just as law professors can vary widely in their
teaching ability, there can also be a wide variation in the
teaching ability of the lecturers used by some of the bar
review programs in the U.S. Tesdahl's Bar Review always
provides a uniformly superb level of instruction. How do we
do it?
* We
believe in the old saying that "if you want something
done right, do it yourself." That's why at Tesdahl's
Bar Review, all of the outlines and lectures covering
every subject on the bar exam are prepared and presented
by the program's founder, D. Benson Tesdahl, Esq. (See
enclosed biography.)
* Mr.
Tesdahl has been hailed by scores of students over the
past 15 years as their favorite bar exam preparatory
lecturer in Washington. His concise outlines and
no-nonsense teaching style appeal to those looking for a
fast, efficient and uniform way to learn the hundreds of
rules of law necessary to pass the Washington bar exam.
Virtual 'Round the Clock Assistance
Questions
often arise long after a bar review lecture is over. Indeed,
many bar exam applicants discover gaps in their
understanding of the law at night or on weekends when
reviewing their bar review lecture notes and practice exams.
To
address this problem, Tesdahl's Bar Review provides its
enrollees with the convenience of sending any questions they
may have during the course directly to Mr. Tesdahl by e-mail
for the fastest possible response. For those who do not have
e-mail, we also offer "Tesdahl's toll-free tutoring
line," which is a toll-free phone number that
enrollees may call to leave any questions they may have
during the course. All questions are answered personally by
Mr Tesdahl, so our e-mail and toll-free phone assistance
service is like having a personal bar exam tutor at your
fingertips. During the final days before the bar exam, Mr.
Tesdahl is even available to answer last-minute questions
after normal business hours and on weekends!
Concise and Convenient
If
you have been unhappy with the lengthy study materials and
inconvenient lectures offered by bar review courses you have
taken in the past, you will find our concise and convenient
home study program to be refreshingly different.
*
With Tesdahl's Bar Review, all subjects are presented in
extremely concise lectures recorded on compact disks, with
each lecture averaging roughly 90
minutes per subject (except for the heavily tested subjects of
Torts and Property, which are covered in about 3 hours each).
You also save valuable time by not having to commute each day
to a lecture hall. Instead, our CDs allow you to
listen to each subject at a quiet place and time that is most
convenient for you and to replay any portion of a lecture as
often as necessary.
*
Tesdahl's Bar Review also presents all subjects using the
unique "PSR Study System" developed by Ben Tesdahl.
This system consists of the following three concise phases:
PREVIEW:
Applicants will first preview "Tesdahl's one-page
organizational framework" for each subject.
These unique overview pages are invaluable for learning
the flow and interrelationship of the key issue areas
that make up each substantive subject tested on the bar
exam.
STUDY:
With the help of CDs, applicants next study
succinct "bullet-style" lecture outlines that
typically average about 15 pages per subject on
regular-size paper, and that includes space for
note-taking! These extremely popular outlines are
the result of hundreds of hours spent by Mr. Tesdahl
condensing and simplifying the law. With Mr.
Tesdahl’s outlines, you get quality, not quantity.
REVIEW: Upon
completion of each lecture, Mr. Tesdahl then reduces the
key exam issues for each substantive subject down to a
single sheet of regular-size paper called "Tesdahl's
One-Page Bar Exam Checklist." Reviewing
these checklists solidifies the knowledge gained during
the lecture and sharpens recall skills. Ask anyone
who has seen Mr. Tesdahl's one-page checklists; they
will tell you that there is simply nothing else quite
like them!
*NOTE: Because
Tesdahl's Bar Review does not use narrative-style outlines, we
have no reading assignments (other than the rules of ethics).
This saves you countless hours of study time that can be better
spent memorizing our unique one-page exam checklists and
following our rigorous exam-writing program (as described
below).
Comprehensive Writing
Program
To
pass Washington's unique 2 1/2 day all-essay bar exam, it is absolutely
essential to have extensive and carefully structured essay exam-writing
practice, coupled with detailed and personalized feedback from an
exam-writing expert.
*
A comprehensive writing program is included as an integral part of
Tesdahl's Bar Review course at no additional charge. Our writing
program includes numerous sample questions similar in difficulty to
those found on the Washington Bar Exam, as well as a detailed lecture
containing Mr. Tesdahl's invaluable exam-writing strategies.
*
Our writing program is also extremely thorough and regimented.
During the course, applicants follow a detailed study schedule
which has them write out answers to the equivalent of three full bar
exams. Applicants submit three of their practice
answers to Mr. Tesdahl, who critiques them in extreme detail at
strategic times during the course. All remaining questions
are supplied with detailed sample answers for self-grading.
Also, several model answers covering the three most heavily tested
subjects on the bar exam (Torts, Property and Contracts) are
analyzed by Mr. Tesdahl line-by-line in detailed lectures on CD we
call “Tesdahl’s Instant Feedback.” These unique
lectures allow applicants to immediately identify their own weaknesses and
see the right way to attack questions and write successful answers
covering the most heavily tested subjects before moving on in the
course.
* NOTE: To ensure uniformity in our writing
program feedback, all evaluations of practice answers are done
personally by Mr. Tesdahl and include in-depth, narrative-style
feedback. Indeed, Mr. Tesdahl's detailed evaluations
during the course typically total at least two single-spaced
pages for each practice answer!
Exam-Taking and Time Management Tips
Knowing
the law is not enough. To pass the bar exam, you also must
study with someone who knows the rules of the exam
"game" and how to use those rules to your
advantage. You also need an experienced person to teach you
the difficult task of writing a thorough answer that will
not exceed the very limited answer space provided on the
Washington Bar Exam.
* Our
exam-writing lecture is our longest block of instruction
and is presented exclusively by Ben Tesdahl, who has a
remarkable exam-taking record in law school and on two
state bar exams (see biography). His 15 years of
experience analyzing Washington bar exam questions and his
methodical exam-taking techniques have helped scores of
students pass Washington's unique all-essay bar exam.
* In
addition, Tesdahl's Bar Review provides valuable time
management tips, including a detailed daily schedule of
what to study and when to rest each day leading up to the
exam. We also offer the convenience of three different
study schedules to accommodate your work and family
commitments (as described in the Note below).
* NOTE:
Our "regular" study schedule is intensive and does
not leave time for employment or other major distractions.
It begins approximately 2 months prior to the bar exam and
requires study for at least 5 hours per day, 6 days per
week. However, as a special service for out-of-state
attorneys and other applicants who must work full-time or
part-time prior to the bar exam or who have other time
commitments which preclude full-time study, we also offer
4-month and 3-month "extended study schedules"
that cover the materials at a slower pace. Call if you have questions
regarding which of these unique study schedules is best for
you.
Free Appeal Assistance Program Applicants
who are unsuccessful on the Washington Bar Exam, but who are
within 3-4 points of a passing score, are usually entitled
to appeal up to six of their answers to the WSBA for
regrading. But most applicants who attempt to select appeal
choices totally on their own find themselves floundering and
unsure of what to do. We have solved that problem.
*
Applicants who have completed our bar review course
receive exam appeal assistance at no charge. During the
appeal process, Mr. Tesdahl provides a detailed list of
strategies to help our enrollees select which of their
answers to appeal. This help is critical, since appealed
test scores may go up or down upon regrading. Mr.
Tesdahl's uncanny ability to help students identify
answers worthy of appeal has enabled many applicants to
pass the bar exam on appeal, thereby saving them the high
cost and long delay of another bar exam.
